What we do
Urban Organic (UK) CIC was established in 2014 to provide gardening and beekeeping as therapeutic activities to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities. In order to achieve this the organisation is involved in community consultation, establishing community gardens, growing edible and bee-friendly plants, the provision of gardening and beekeeping related activities as well as organising events to inform the public of our services and to recruit volunteers. As a Community Interest Company we aim to create long term benefits for the local community wherever we operate.
The business is largely focused on Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre but as a board member of the ORA Network has also delivered Urban Gardening workshops in Italy, Germany, Bosnia and Serbia. As our name suggests we endeavour to carry out our activities as organically as possible, promote environmental awareness, use local suppliers and local materials.
Through our business activities we engage with a wide range of people including vulnerable adults, school children, students, carers, people with long term illness or recovering from illness, ethnic groups, volunteers, religious groups, retired people, voluntary groups and people with a keen interest in gardening and healthy eating. Volunteers are very much at the heart of our activities enabling our small organisation to have a reach and ability to adapt so we can operate effectively at the grass roots level.
